Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:

As several A & E departments struggle with overload, a key component of the problem is that the absence of admission beds is causing logjam in A & Es. This is something which the Minister seeks to dodge, but it is a policy which he has carried on and continues to implement. You can’t cull hundreds of hospital beds and then be surprised when A & Es are choked with trolley waits. Take Belfast Trust: in just 5 years the number of available beds have been slashed by nearly 20% from 2700 to 2200. Continue Reading…

Statement by TUV Leader and member of DSD Committee, Jim Allister:-

“This morning the DSD Minister and his Special Adviser were due to give sworn testimony to the DSD Committee in the Inquiry sparked by the BBC Spotlight programme arising from the Redsky controversy.

“The Minister and his SPAD had been called back to address contradictions which had  arisen with their previous unsworn evidence. Continue Reading…

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-

“Richard Haass’ outburst in Washington was wholly irresponsible, being excusatory of future terrorism.

“Excusing terrorism, alas, is nothing new for Dr Haass. His New Year report was so sanitising of terrorism that it didn’t even use the term “terrorism” at any point to describe the murderous terror of the IRA and others. Continue Reading…

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:

“It’s simply not good enough to say that no more of these letters will be issued. There should never have been any of these letters issued in the first place and those in circulation should, as the First Minister claimed was a resigning issue, be rescinded.

“If the letters are no longer of any force, as the DUP laughably claim, the Downey judgement would be appealed.

“The demands made by Peter Robinson should have been met in full. They haven’t been and innocent victims are, once again, the losers.”

Statement by Jim Allister MLA:

“TUV regrets that the DUP has rolled over to Sinn Fein pressure in OFMdFM and is now delivering on a promise they foolishly made in 2007 in their first Programme for Government with Sinn Fein. Continue Reading…

The following platform piece from Jim Allister appeared in today’s News Letter:

The OTR scandal provides a glimpse into the political corruption and skulduggery that spawned and drove the ‘peace process’.  When government, which above all ought to protect innocent victims, colludes with the victim-makers to assure them sanctuary, then, it not only betrays their victims but has plumbed the depths of moral corruption. Continue Reading…

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:

“I had a long standing appointment to meet the Secretary of State today. Indeed her office phoned on Monday to confirm that it was still going ahead and ask what we wanted put on the agenda. Continue Reading…

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-

“The secret negotiations with the Provos, which gifted their OTRs the comfort of effective immunity, undermined and blunted the HET’s work. While victims craved justice their government was conspiring with the victim-makers to ensure it wouldn’t be obtained. That is the obscenity of the OTR deal. Continue Reading…
